pastilhasandClaude Opus 5 417e091dfe a nav down the left, whatever it selects beside it
two fixed panels could show two of NPM's seven sections and had nowhere to put
the other five. now the left column is the section list — proxy hosts,
redirections, streams, 404 hosts, access lists, certificates, connection — and
the right renders whichever is chosen.

NPM's own vocabulary, in NPM's own order. somebody who has used it should find
the same words, and somebody who has not will end up in NPM's UI eventually
anyway; better names would just mean learning both. "404 hosts" reads oddly and
is theirs, so the hint under it says what it means.

the two panels never speak. the nav writes ?section= and the detail pane reads
it — navigation-audit's rule, and it is what makes a section linkable and
survive a reload. changing section clears ?host=, which belonged to the list
that was open.

three things folded up while doing it. the unconfigured check moved to the
detail pane and happens once, so all seven sections say "no connection yet" the
same way instead of six saying it badly. the settings gear is gone: connection
is a nav row now. and the four list-only sections are one component, differing
only in what a row says — proxy hosts and certificates stay separate because
they have real behaviour, and folding them in would be a props bag that is a
worse version of both.

the counts in the nav are one request each. affordable against a local NPM, and
they answer "is this worth opening" without a click. a count that fails is
absent rather than zero — zero is a fact about NPM, a failure is a fact about
the request, and the detail pane reports that properly.

pastilhasandClaude Opus 5 631443e5ae the chat panel has to be ours, even though the chat is not
naming officerdev/chat in layout.ts rendered a second Hosts panel. the shared
registry is not the thing that decides: PluginScreen renders the workspace with
appTypes={{ allowed, fallback: allowed[0] }} where allowed is THIS plugin's own
panel keys, so an unrecognised appType silently becomes the first panel. that
boundary is deliberate — its comment says a persisted layout must not be able
to render another plugin's panel inside this screen — and it is a different
mechanism from seedAppRegistry merging the panels, which is what the last
commit's reasoning confused it with.

so the panel is ours and EmbeddableChat inside it is the platform's. it is
exported from officerdev for exactly this: the whole composer, transcript,
queue and model picker, with no second implementation to fall behind the
first.

it carries a two-sentence promptPrefix, which is per-panel and costs nobody
else's conversation anything. deliberately short: the skill holds the
knowledge and reaches every session for two lines, so anything longer here
would be the skill written twice and this would be the stale copy. all it says
is where the agent is standing, which is the one thing the skill cannot know.

pastilhasandClaude Opus 5 b8fd43d7ab a chat under the lists, and the skill that makes it worth having
the layout gains a third node across the bottom, a third of the height. a
conversation reads badly in a narrow column and the two lists do not, so the
chat gets width rather than a column of its own.

it is officerdev/chat, the platform's own panel, not a simplified one of ours.
seedAppRegistry merges the platform's panels and every plugin's into one
registry, so naming it is all it takes — and a second chat maintained here
would be the one that falls behind.

the skill is deliberately NOT scoped to these routes. that was considered and
dropped once it was clear what a skill costs: compileSkills emits a name, a
description and a path, and the body is only read if the agent decides it is
relevant. two lines in every conversation. scoping would have meant a platform
change to buy back nothing.

(affordances are the opposite — loaded in full, every conversation — so this
plugin ships none. by docs/affordances.md's own test the 404 quirk does not
qualify: it CAN be fixed instead, and the platform route already fixes it.)

what the skill carries: the routes, that meta.nginx_online is the field for
"is it down", that renewal is at 30 days so under 14 is a real failure worth
raising unprompted and nothing else will raise it, that the 404 has already
been interpreted before it reaches you, and that disabling a host takes a
domain off the internet so it is confirmed and never inferred. plus what is
not built, so it does not get offered.

pastilhasandClaude Fable 5 5914e96cf3 proxy-manager: nginx proxy manager in officer
reads hosts and certificates against a live NPM 2.15.1. one grantable
permission, with /_config owner-only — reading which hosts are healthy
is worth sharing, an NPM admin login is not, and NPM has no read-only
role.

the quirk that shapes the whole plugin: NPM answers an unauthenticated
read with 404, not 401, because its router only registers a resource
once a token is present. so 'not signed in' and 'no such endpoint' are
the same response, and a naive client tells you a feature is missing
when your password is wrong. the client mints a fresh token and retries
once, then reports a persistent 404 as likelyAuth.

certificates sort by expiry rather than name, which is the only ordering
that answers a question.

no create/edit/delete and no cert issuance: NPM's own UI does those and
a wrong proxy host takes a domain off the internet.
