pastilhasandClaude Opus 5 9864fb1a49 switch off the browser relay, pending extraction into a plugin
BROWSER_RELAY_PORT is gone and the second listener no longer starts. The Chrome
extension, api/browser/ and the /browser screen all stay on disk — this is going
to be extracted, and deleting it means writing it again.

Three things had to move together, and the middle one would have failed the boot
on its own:

server.tsx the listener, commented out with the variable name recorded
  hono.ts the /api/browser mount, closed
registry.ts the 'browser' capability's claim on /browser, dropped

assertCapabilityTotality checks both directions: check 2 refuses to start on a
capability claiming a prefix nothing serves. Unmounting the router alone would
have left the registry describing it, and the server would not have come up.

The capability itself survives because it also claims /scrape, which shares
nothing with the relay — it launches its own headless chromium through playwright
and never speaks to the extension.

The comment in server.tsx carries the two facts that are not recoverable by
reading the remaining code. First, the port is an INPUT TO A CREDENTIAL:
relay-auth.ts derives each extension's token as HMAC(JWT_SECRET,
'officer-browser-relay-v1:${port}:${userId}:${salt}'), so bringing the relay back
on a different number silently invalidates every paired browser — reported by the
extension as "Relay not reachable", which SETUP.md blames on a wrong address,
port or token. Second, it cannot come back as a kernel-assigned port:0 like the
other sidecars: the extension is configured by hand and stores the value, so a
port that moves each restart breaks the pairing each restart.

Left alone deliberately: the /browser route in App.tsx, its Dock entry, and the
Settings → Browser Relay panel. They will not work against a closed endpoint.
Removing them is frontend work for the extraction, not part of switching the
listener off.

.env is down to PORT and POSTGRES_URL.

Not typechecked (empty node_modules, frozen installs). Every changed file parses;
the setup section was run and writes two variables.

pastilhasandClaude Opus 5 3c7f52ab77 PORT is read in one place, and it has no default
officer-url.mjs is now the only file in the tree that touches process.env.PORT.
Twenty-two others read it and supplied their own default; a value with
twenty-two sources is not configuration, it is twenty-two things to keep in sync,
and they had already drifted three ways.

It throws when PORT is unset rather than guessing. A default only covers the case
where .env was never loaded — which is not a machine anyone wants running,
because POSTGRES_URL is missing in the same breath. What the default bought was a
process that starts, binds somewhere unexpected, and fails later for a reason
that does not name the cause. Same posture as jwt.ts with JWT_SECRET.

It is .mjs, not .ts, and that is the whole reason this could be one file. pm2
launches officer-pty with node (ecosystem.config.cjs) and everything else with
bun; node cannot import TypeScript, so a .ts module would have left the pty
sidecar holding the only surviving copy of the default — precisely the thing
being removed. allowJs is already on, so the TS callers still get types. Verified
both runtimes import it, and that PUBLIC_URL-style overrides still work.

It also exports API_URL and OFFICER_API_URL, because nineteen sidecars were
independently building `ws://127.0.0.1:${PORT}` and two more were building the
http form. Those are one listener described in two protocols — no sidecar binds
anything — so they belong beside the port rather than being rediscovered per
file.

server.tsx now takes PORT as a number, so Number(PORT) at the serve site is gone.

Not typechecked (empty node_modules, frozen installs). Every edited file parses
under `bun build --no-bundle`; node and bun both load the new module; the unset
and non-numeric paths were exercised; the pm2 profile still loads.

pastilhasandClaude Opus 5 e72cae4830 one default port, and it is 9000
Every PORT fallback in the tree now says 9000. There were three answers to one
question, each defensible where it was written and none of them visible from the
others:

server.tsx and 19 sidecars 5000 a default from before there was an installer
  user-instance.ts 9010 what scripts/setup-old/setup.sh really wrote
.env.example 9000 what we told people to write

5000 goes first because macOS binds it — AirPlay Receiver has owned it since
Monterey, so a dev server there fails to bind or gets shadowed by something that
answers.

All 22 sites moved together, which is the point. Changing the app alone would have
turned a consistent-but-wrong default into a split one: the app on 9000 while
nineteen sidecars still dialled 5000.

9010 was the interesting one. It was the only value that ever matched a real
machine, because it is what the old installer wrote — and it was in the single
file whose disagreement would have broken chat alone, with nothing else looking
wrong. Its own comment records the same bug being fixed once already, within the
file, by a change that left it disagreeing with everything outside it.

Note what these defaults actually are: the sidecars bind nothing. user-instance.ts
has no listener at all — it builds ws:// and http:// URLs that both address the
app's single listener. So every one of these numbers is a guess at where the app
is, for a value that .env always supplies. Worth removing rather than aligning,
which is a separate change.

Not typechecked (empty node_modules, frozen installs). Every edited file parses
under `bun build --no-bundle`; the pm2 profile loads.

pastilhasandClaude Opus 5 3f071c0b24 the install root is derived, not configured
Seven variables out of .env. DATA_PATH, OFFICER_ITEMS_DIR and HOME_DIR are gone
from the code entirely; PUBLIC_URL, PUBLIC_BUILD_ENV, JWT_SECRET and
VAULT_STORE_KEY are no longer written by the setup script.

data-path.ts now derives OFFICER_ROOT as dirname(process.cwd()), with data/,
capabilities/ and dockers/ as fixed names under it. The direction used to run the
other way — DATA_PATH from env, then OFFICER_ROOT = dirname(DATA_PATH) in
app-store/paths.ts — which meant three environment variables that had to agree
with each other and with the tree on disk.

Eight files re-read process.env.DATA_PATH independently, each with its own
`?? cwd()/data` fallback. They import the one value now, which is what made
removing it safe: otherwise each would have derived its own and drifted.

Three things this turned up.

The cwd pin in ecosystem.profile.cjs was broken. It set `cwd: __dirname` under a
comment asserting "__dirname is the repo root — this file sits beside
ecosystem.config.cjs", which stopped being true when these files moved into
ecosystem-files/. It walks up to the platform's package.json now, which holds
wherever the file lives. That was a live bug before this change and a load-bearing
one after it, since cwd now decides where the install is.

assertInstallLayout joins the other two boot assertions. A wrong cwd does not
error — it computes a plausible root somewhere else and writes managed homes and
agent runs into it, so the install looks empty and the data looks lost with
nothing naming the cause. It throws before serve(), first of the three, because a
wrong answer there makes the other two check the wrong files.

getOwnerHomeDir captures homedir() once at module load rather than per call.
Measured on bun 1.3.10: both os.homedir() and os.userInfo().homedir return $HOME
when set rather than reading passwd, and user-instance.ts assigns process.env.HOME
on its way to spawning an agent. A lazy read would have returned the owner's home
on the first call and a member's afterwards. data-path.ts imports only node
builtins, so it is evaluated before any of that runs.

JWT_SECRET and VAULT_STORE_KEY leaving .env means an install made by this script
does not boot — jwt.ts throws at module load without one. That is the agreed
sequencing: they move to the SQLite store (docs/secret-store.md), and writing them
here meanwhile would create a second origin for a secret the store then has to be
reconciled with. Said plainly in .env.example and in lib/env.sh rather than left
to be discovered.

Not typechecked: node_modules is empty here and installs are frozen. Every edited
file parses under `bun build --no-bundle`; the profile loads and pins the right
cwd; assertInstallLayout was exercised from both the repo and /tmp; the setup
section was run and writes five variables. Prettier was NOT run — 3.9.6 via bunx
is not the pinned resolution and reformatted unrelated unions and line wraps in
six files, so those were reverted and the edits re-applied by hand.

pastilhasandClaude Opus 5 c59df4f866 let members use chat
The owner authorized this explicitly. Two refusals removed together, because
they were always one guard in two places: the wholesale isSuperAdmin middleware
in api/chat/chat.ts, and the chat socket's 403 in server.tsx.

They were right for the day they stood. A turn spawned claude as the OWNER and
every transcript path resolved through the owner's home, so a granted member
would have read the owner's sessions and run an agent as them.

What replaced them, rather than what deleted them:

the turn runs as the member spawnClaudeAsMember through sudo setpriv,
proven against a real account by reading file
ownership rather than trusting the process
the credential is theirs --reset-env plus an allowlist, so the owner's
                                 proxy variables cannot cross
the transcripts are theirs ChatIdentity carries a home from resolveHomeDir
                                 and claude-sessions cannot invent one
the sessions are theirs every session records its owner and all six
                                 sidecar commands refuse a mismatch

Also adds the precondition host asked for in 10: a member whose claude is not
signed in gets the instruction rather than a turn that dies on an auth error and
reads as a broken agent. Not installed and not signed in are separate messages
because they need different actions.

registry.ts and registry.test.ts now describe chat as confined in fact rather
than ahead of its implementation. The comments at both former guards say what
had to exist first, and that a revert should go back to a refusal rather than to
a narrower one.

pastilhas e4acf19a35 Merge remote-tracking branch 'gitea/master' into sidecar-app-store 2026-08-11 19:10:52 +00:00
pastilhasandClaude Opus 5 4d4a253f72 terminal runs as the member; chat is grantable and still refused
TERMINAL is confined now, and the shell is genuinely theirs. The pty sidecar spawns it
through sudo setpriv as their own account, in their own home, with the platform's
environment cleared. Verified end to end against the sidecar's own socket:

  id -u 1001, not 1000
file the shell wrote owned by ptyprobe
  ps -o user=,args= ptyprobe /bin/zsh -i
  env | grep -c POSTGRES 0

osUser and home are resolved in upgradeWs from the authenticated account, and whatever
the browser sent under those names is DELETED first. The bridge forwards the query string
to the sidecar untouched and the sidecar starts a shell from what it finds there, so
trusting the client for either would let a member ask for the owner's uid in a query
parameter.

node-pty does support uid/gid, unlike Bun.spawn, and they are deliberately unused: they
set the ids without applying the account's groups or resetting the environment, so the
shell would keep the owner's groups and everything Bun loaded from .env.

Also closes the pty identity blindness in TODO.md. Sessions record whose they are, list
and kill scope to the caller, and re-attaching to a session belonging to another account
is refused — otherwise a member resumes someone else's shell by guessing an id that
travels in a query string. Measured: member killing the owner's session -> ok:false,
owner killing it -> ok:true.

CHAT is confined so the owner can grant it and the route resolves, and both execution
doors refuse a non-owner: the router wholesale, and the socket in server.tsx. The agent
has not moved — the SDK spawns claude itself with nowhere to put a uid, and every
transcript path resolves through the owner's home, so a member would read the owner's
session list and run an agent as the owner. Reads are refused too, because
listClaudePwds returns the names of the owner's projects.

A deliberate, temporary gap at the owner's request: permission and route now, function
when a turn can be spawned under runAs with the member's own HOME. Both guards say so,
and the registry test names them so a future edit cannot move one without the other.

pastilhasandClaude Opus 5 5c7ceb2283 per-user linux accounts, stage 1: the account and the privilege drop
A member gets a real Linux account whose home is the directory the platform already
provisions for them. Nothing uses it yet — this is the mechanism plus the account,
deliberately with no behaviour change, so the file browser and terminal can be moved
onto something already proven.

Bun.spawn silently ignores uid/gid. Verified on 1.3.10: from uid 1000,
Bun.spawn(['id','-u'], {uid: 65534}) exits 0 and prints 1000. No throw, no warning.
Bun's types don't declare the option so typed code can't reach it by accident, but the
runtime accepts it, and a silently absent isolation boundary is the worst outcome this
feature could have. So privilege drops go through sudo -n setpriv, and a test pins Bun's
behaviour — if it's ever implemented, that test tells us we may simplify.

sudo is required for the drop and not because of the uid: --init-groups fails with
"Operation not permitted" for an unprivileged caller even when reuid'ing to its own
account, because setgroups(2) is root-only. --reset-env is what stops the platform's
environment crossing; verified POSTGRES_URL is unset on the far side and HOME arrives
from the target's passwd entry.

Three bugs that only a real run with a real useradd could find:

- chmod after chown fails forever, because chmod needs ownership. Both orderings fail
unprivileged. Both operations now go through sudo, which is what makes it re-runnable.
- a member could read ANOTHER member's home: provisionUserDirs created at the default
umask (755) and only the account being created got confined. An unlistable parent is
no protection when the child is world-readable and emails are guessable. The skeleton
is now created closed, 711 on the account dir and 700 inside.
- platform/.env was 664 and a member's shell printed JWT_SECRET, which is enough to mint
an owner token and bypass every capability check. Now a boot check that refuses to
start with OFFICER_OS_USERS on while any .env in the project root is group- or
  world-readable.

Design, the measured results and the staging plan: docs/per-user-linux-accounts.md.

pastilhasandClaude Opus 5 209e916343 app store: publish a sidecar's assets to public/plugins/<id>/
Real PNG icons are coming, so this is the path they arrive by: a sidecar ships its assets beside its own
code, and install copies them to public/plugins/<id>/ where one static route serves them.

Copied rather than served in place because a sidecar shipping from its own repository has its assets
wherever that repository was unpacked, which is not a path the web server can be taught at build time.
One predictable destination means the serving rule never has to know how many plugins exist or where any
came from. It also makes assets a property of the INSTALL: uninstall removes them, and a plugin nobody
installed serves nothing.

Needed a new route, and the reason is a trap worth recording. `publicRoutes` in server.tsx is built by
globbing ./public at BOOT, so anything copied there afterwards is invisible to it — the first install of
a plugin would show a broken image until the server was restarted, and "install it, then restart to see
the icon" is not an install. `/plugins/*` resolves per request, like /novnc/* and /vendor/* already do.

Unlike those two it answers 404 rather than 500 for a missing file: an unpublished icon is an ordinary
state on a fresh machine, and a 500 would put a red line in the log for every dock render.

Proven end to end with a real asset: slskd's icon moved from public/slskd.png into the sidecar's own
assets/, published against an ALREADY RUNNING server, and fetched at 200 with the right bytes and
content-type — 404 before publishing, no restart between.

public/plugins/ is gitignored: it holds copies, and the originals live with each sidecar.

pastilhasandClaude Opus 5 6e9a8ee42f let the extension use the bare officer url, no path
Follow-up to the /vaultwarden mount: the suffix is superfluous if officer can tell a
bitwarden client apart, and it can.

Most of vaultwarden surface does not collide at all — /identity, /notifications, /icons and
/events belong to it and to nothing here, so those are served at the root by path alone, no
sniffing. Only /api collides (vaultwarden has /api/settings/domains, officer has
/api/settings), and there the client says who it is: every bitwarden client stamps
Bitwarden-Client-Name, older ones Device-Type.

Trusting a client header is fine because this is ROUTING, not authentication — the worst a
forged one achieves is reaching vaultwarden, which then demands its own credential exactly
as it would have. Nothing is authorised by it.

Registered before /api so it wins for a bitwarden client, and narrow enough that an ordinary
officer request never matches. Verified: /identity reaches the proxy, /api/sync with the
header diverts, /api/chat/models without it still answers 401 from officer, and the SPA is
untouched. /vaultwarden still works for anything that prefers an explicit path.

pastilhasandClaude Opus 5 f2e38ed9a7 serve vaultwarden at officer own host, without officer auth
So the bitwarden browser extension can point here and the separate public vaultwarden
hostname can be taken down.

/api/vault cannot serve it: that router requires an officer session and REPLACES the caller
Authorization header with a server-held vaultwarden token. Right for our own clients — the
device then holds no vault credential — and impossible for a third-party client that gets
its own token from /identity/connect/token and has nowhere to put a platform JWT.

So a separate mount rather than a mode of that router: blending them would put an
unauthenticated branch inside the authenticated path. This one forwards Authorization
untouched and rewrites nothing.

Leaving it open is not a new exposure — everything here was already reachable at the
vaultwarden URL it replaces, behind the same master password, and officer cannot add a check
it has no credential for. It is also going behind tailscale.

Temporary. The end state is our own extension reusing @officer/vault, which already runs as
a plain JS bundle outside react native (the iOS autofill extension hosts it in
JavaScriptCore), against the /api/vault/session/login broker — then nothing addresses
vaultwarden directly and this mount is deleted rather than adjusted.

Needed its own entry in server.tsx: only listed paths reach hono and the rest fall through
to the SPA, so without it the endpoint answered 200 with the react shell — a missing route
that looks like a working one.

pastilhasandClaude Opus 5 ae275ee607 resolve api keys at the websocket doors too
there were four doors, not two. the ws upgrade in server.tsx and the
vault notifications socket each verified the jwt themselves, so a key
that worked against /api would have 401'd on cliamp — signed in and can
play audio would have been two different questions for the music app.

both now call resolveAuthToken. verified: owner key upgrades cliamp
(101), bogus key 401, member key 403 on terminal exactly as their jwt
is.

reset-password and verify-token deliberately keep verify() — they read
a purpose-scoped reset token and a key must not be spendable as one.

pastilhasandClaude Opus 5 8e9d53b2d2 capabilities: both doors now read the same declaration
replaces the account backstop. it was two hand-written lists — NON_OWNER_PATHS
confining every non-owner to /api/auth + /api/music, and NON_OWNER_WS_PROVIDERS
doing the same for sockets. they were not wrong, they were unscalable in one
specific way: an allow-list answers "which paths" but never "why", so onboarding
anyone who needed anything other than music meant editing an array in a
middleware file and hoping the socket half got edited too.

now both doors resolve against the registry, so they cannot disagree about what
a role holds. terminal, chat, task-runner, pipeline and desktop are refused by
being `execution` capabilities rather than by being absent from a list somebody
maintains.

fail-closed everywhere: an unknown capability key, a missing row, a database
error or a deleted user all deny. the grant cache is keyed on role and has an
explicit invalidation contract — unlike the one super-admin.ts refuses to have,
this one has exactly one writer and it lives beside the reader.

seeded Member → music at WRITE, which is precisely what the old path-based
backstop allowed. granting `read` would have been a silent downgrade that broke
playlists for the three live member accounts overnight.

verified against the live database and real accounts: 27 http/socket cases, the
read/write split (personal sub-paths writable at read, /music/scan not), cache
invalidation after a revoke, and the borrowed test account's role restored.
20 new unit tests; full suite 362 pass 0 fail.

pastilhasandClaude Opus 5 705d2b3235 capabilities: a registry, and a server that refuses to boot without one
permissions are capabilities, not routes. a capability is a feature — the
unit the owner grants, the dock filters on and the acl enforces — declaring
the api prefixes, websocket providers and screens it expands to.

four kinds. core is every account and is not grantable because it is not
deniable. app is the grantable surface. admin is the platform administering
itself. execution is never grantable at any level: terminal, chat, tasks,
files, desktop and browser all run as the owner's os user in the owner's
home, so granting one is co-ownership of the machine rather than a feature.

the part that matters is assertCapabilityTotality. the websocket hole fixed
in 2873948 was not a wrong rule — it was a door added without telling the
rule, because bun's route table matches /api/terminal/ws before the /api/*
catch-all that reaches hono's middleware. so the server now refuses to start
unless every mounted prefix and every user-facing socket maps to exactly one
capability. hono.ts mounts from a table and exports it, so the check reads
the real surface instead of a copy that can drift from it.

verified: passes against the live surface, and refuses all four ways — an
ungated router, an ungated socket, a claim on a deleted router, a claim on a
deleted socket.

pastilhasandClaude Opus 5 2873948f98 close the websocket hole: authenticate was never authorise
A Member account could open a terminal. Demonstrated, not inferred: on 2026-08-06
a token for dingoshf@gmail.com (role Member) was refused GET /api/tasks with 403
and, in the same minute, opened /api/tasks/pipeline/ws with 101 Switching
Protocols.

The account backstop lives in originScopeMiddleware, which is a Hono middleware.
Websocket upgrades never reach Hono: Bun's route table in server.tsx matches
'/api/terminal/ws' and its siblings before the '/api/*' entry that hands off, so
NON_OWNER_PATHS was enforced on HTTP and nowhere else. upgradeWs verified the
token and the blacklist, then upgraded — it proved WHO was calling and never
asked what they could reach. None of the handlers behind it checked either;
terminal, chat and desktop have no authorisation code at all.

What was reachable with any valid token: a shell as the owner in the owner's
home, the agent with --dangerously-skip-permissions, arbitrary script execution
through task-runner and pipeline, and the owner's physical screen and keyboard
over the VNC mirror.

upgradeWs now refuses any provider a non-owner has no business on. cliamp and
cliamp-audio stay open to them — those are the socket half of /api/music, which
is what a music account exists for. An unrecognised provider denies.

NON_OWNER_WS_PROVIDERS is declared beside NON_OWNER_PATHS on purpose. They are
one rule at two doors, and the whole failure was that only one door had it;
splitting them across files is how that happens again.

The vault socket was already gated — it verifies isSuperAdmin in `open` and
closes 4001 — so upgradeWs was the only gap.

Not yet verified against the running server: platform TS does not hot-reload, so
the 101 above still reproduces until `pm2 restart officer`. The provider table
was checked in isolation: the five execution providers and an unknown name all
deny, cliamp and cliamp-audio allow.

pastilhasandClaude Opus 5 ccd104a28b caldav/carddav: officer-caldav sidecar and the /dav door
first two steps of docs/nextcloud-replacement.md — the half that has to work on
a phone, because that is the half that cannot be faked.

radicale is supervised by the sidecar rather than reimplemented. nextcloud does
not implement caldav either; it vendors sabre/dav. icalendar and vcard are a
weekend, but sync-collection, rrule expansion, vtimezone and ctag/etag are not,
and when they are subtly wrong a phone does not error — it silently stops
syncing, or silently duplicates every event.

two doors, because a browser should not speak dav:

/dav/* top-level, http basic against a scoped app password, every
verb and every dav header forwarded verbatim. this is what
davx5 and ios talk to. same reasoning as /api/vault being
                mounted outside protectedRouter.
/api/caldav/* the ordinary sidecar proxy, for officer's own ui. json.

the shared proxy factory could not carry the dav door: it forwards three
headers and dav dies without Depth, and it derives the user from a jwt a phone
cannot hold. so it is a separate file, per that factory's own instruction never
to grow per-app logic.

new `dav_app_passwords` — a phone cannot do jwt, and the alternative is the
account password living in a phone's account manager. argon2, shown once,
revocable per device, and accepted ONLY by /dav.

.well-known/caldav and carddav redirect to the dav root. they are most of what
makes adding an account feel transparent, and they need naming explicitly in
server.tsx or the SPA `/*` fallback answers the phone with html.

verified end to end against the running stack: 401 + WWW-Authenticate
unauthenticated; 207 with calendar-access and addressbook advertised; MKCALENDAR,
PUT and GET of a real VEVENT; calendar-query and sync-collection REPORTs; MKCOL,
PUT and GET of a real vCard. X-Script-Name is set because radicale otherwise
generates hrefs at / and the client follows them into the SPA.

pastilhasandClaude Opus 5 af56eb36ff email: move the mail store and every route into the sidecar
Email was the one sidecar built inside out. The platform held ~1,800 lines — the per-account
SQLite store, all 14 HTTP routes, account CRUD, resync, IMAP validation — while the 314-line
sidecar was a scheduler that reached BACK into the platform to do anything
(`import { performResync } from '../../api/email/resync'`).

The sidecar now serves its own HTTP listener and announces `email:server`, and
/api/email/* on the platform is createSidecarProxy like every other one: 1,801 lines down
to 22, with no mail knowledge left in it — not a message, not a folder, not a credential.

The routes moved verbatim, Hono and all. http.ts only reconstructs what the platform's
middleware used to provide: `user` on the context, from the X-Officer-User header the proxy
injects (trusted because this server binds loopback), and an error handler that turns
custom-errors into status codes.

The /email/events SSE stream went with them, which removes a whole round trip: the IDLE
watcher used to send `email:new` over the registration socket so the platform could push to
its SSE clients. Those clients are here now, so it calls broadcastEmailNew in-process and
`email:new` is gone from the wire protocol.

DELIBERATELY NOT DONE YET, and left backwards on purpose rather than half-moved:

- The two sync handlers (email-sync 381 lines, gmail-sync 712) still run in the platform's
queue and now import the store from its new home — a platform → sidecar import, which is
the wrong direction and is temporary. Moving them is option (A) from the plan: the sidecar
schedules its own syncs, independent of the platform Jobs list.
- accounts.ts still imports queue/init to enqueue a sync and to report sync status, and
index.ts still carries the queue-over-WS shim that inversion needs.
- The three channel handlers still open the mail store directly rather than asking over HTTP.

Two things worth knowing while testing: a from-scratch sync holds a proxied request open
well past the 60s idle default, hence timeoutSeconds on the proxy; and `gmail-sync` is
hardcoded in all three channel handlers even though the only account is provider=gmail with
auth_type=password, which routes to IMAP — so "sync emails" from a chat channel is
almost certainly already broken, and folds into the next stage.

pastilhas 188b45c113 remove projects and apps end to end
deletes the last of the projects/apps cluster: the published-app store
(/api/apps + /api/app-serve), the project dev-server and its websocket
proxy (/api/dev-server + /api/dev-server-proxy), the shared html-rewrite
they were the only consumers of, and their frontend — the Preview panel,
the UserApp panel/header, useUserApps and the /settings/apps screen.

also drops getUserProjectsDir and getUserAppsDir, the ProjectType and
ProjectDefinition types, and the 'dev-server' websocket provider from
server.tsx. nothing on disk is touched.

pastilhasandClaude Opus 4.8 b83a6c7e77 move the whole local-audio pipeline into the music sidecar
cliamp playback was implemented entirely in officer: it located the cliamp binary,
validated the requested path against the owner's home, faked a PTY with `script`,
injected PULSE_SINK and an ALSA config shipped inside the API tree, spawned parec to
capture the sink, and set up the pulseaudio daemon and the virtual_out null sink at
every boot — about 356 lines of audio-pipeline knowledge in a process that is meant to
be a proxy, and none of it owned by the sidecar whose whole job is music.

all of it now lives in sidecar/music: cliamp-ws.ts serves both sockets (/cliamp/ws for
the player, /cliamp/audio/ws for the PCM capture) on the loopback server it already
runs, pulse-audio.ts does the daemon + sink setup at sidecar startup instead of at
officer's, and the asoundrc moved next to the code that passes it. officer keeps the
part that is actually its job — authenticating the browser — and relays frames both
ways without reading them (api/cliamp/relay.ts, same dumb-pipe shape as the vault
notifications relay). the browser's frame contract is unchanged, so the frontend is not
touched.

two things fixed on the way: the traversal check now requires a separator after the
home path, so a sibling directory whose name merely starts with it can no longer pass;
and the music proxy no longer special-cases /reindex and /reindex/stream by name to
extend the idle timeout — it extends the whole prefix, because a proxy should not know
which of the sidecar's routes are slow.

the music-specific `files` query param is out of the shared WS envelope too: upgradeWs
now carries the raw query string, which any relayed provider can use.

pastilhasandClaude Opus 4.8 fcf6715844 vault: Vaultwarden reverse-proxy as the officer-vault sidecar
Transparent pass-through fronting a self-hosted Vaultwarden so the OffVault
(Bitwarden-SDK) app reaches it through the platform's per-app origin gate. True
out-of-process sidecar (officer-vault): it owns all Vaultwarden knowledge (URL,
paths, notifications WebSocket) on a random loopback port and registers via the
sidecar connector; the platform is a thin origin-gated forwarder that knows only
the sidecar's port. Never decrypts/parses/rewrites/logs bodies.

- sidecar/vault: HTTP + notifications-WS proxy to VAULTWARDEN_URL, /_health
- api/vault: sidecar-port discovery + thin forwarder + WS pipe + origin gate
- origin: OFFICER_VAULT_ORIGIN allow-listed, scoped to /api/vault
- mounted top-level (not protected) so the Bitwarden bearer token isn't 401'd
- protocol: vault:server event; ecosystem: officer-vault app

brunorezioandClaude Opus 5 52ddf7df0e generate index.html's absolute URLs from PUBLIC_URL
index.html hardcoded the deployment's domain in eight places, so every instance
had to carry its own edit of the file — the only thing separating the rezio
branch from master.

The tags genuinely need absolute URLs. OpenGraph is fetched standalone by
crawlers, and Bun's HTML bundler treats a root-relative href as an asset to
resolve on disk, failing the build with "Could not resolve: /favicon.ico" —
external URLs are the only form it passes through untouched.

Bun's HTML import offers no substitution hook, so scripts/gen-index.ts swaps
__PUBLIC_URL__ for the value in .env and writes index.gen.html, which the server
imports. index.html is the tracked template and is now identical on every
deployment; index.gen.html is gitignored. predev/prestart run the generator, and
it is idempotent so --watch does not loop.

Substituting also fixes the manifest: an absolute URL puts its fetch in CORS
mode, which failed whenever the hardcoded domain was not the serving origin.

brunorezioandClaude Opus 5 0d67e2af26 clear the remaining type errors
- DiscordAccount seeded DiscordStatus without its two nullable fields.
- bug-report typed reporter.name as string, but users.name is nullable; and the
Discord upload wrapped a Buffer directly in a Blob.
- Lucide icons take no `title` prop, so the sync spinner's tooltip moved to a
  wrapping span.
- DesktopView cast its dynamic import to a type that included `| null`.
- dock PUT cast the request body straight to string[]; it now rejects anything
that is not an array of strings instead of writing it to the database.
- buildZodSchema assembles a mutable record, since z.ZodRawShape is readonly in
  zod v4.
- The dev-server proxy forwards Bun's `string | Buffer` frames through a helper
  that satisfies WebSocket.send without copying.

bunx tsgo is now clean.

brunorezioandClaude Opus 5 044aacf4d5 remove the dead multi-user surface
Officer is single-user: the server owner is the only account, created once by
/auth/bootstrap. Everything that existed to serve additional users was
unreachable, so it is gone rather than left looking like it does something.

Accounts: drop the invite / resend-invite / delete / list-users routes and the
Users settings screen, the inert /auth/signup handler, and the account
verification chain it fed (verify, resend-verification, VerifyScreen, the
UserInvite + VerifyAdmin + VerifyRegistration templates). /auth/verify-token
survives for password resets only, and now requires a reset-password token
rather than accepting any signed JWT.

Roles: drop the users.role column and the four-value USER_ROLES enum. The
permissions table granted every role identical methods, and every
role === 'Super Admin' check was permanently true. The JWT no longer carries a
role claim.

Sandbox: remove sidecar/sandbox.ts and its five call sites. bwrap was selected
only for non-Super-Admin users, so it never ran. It was also not a usable agent
jail as written — --share-net, the project root (with .env) bound read-only,
and runuser dropping to the server's own uid. Rebuilding it for agent
containment would be a different construction, and git history keeps this one.

getHomeDir keeps its DATA_PATH meaning; the new getOwnerHomeDir resolves the
owner's real login home, which is what terminals, chats and task runs use.

pastilhasandClaude Opus 4.8 203a8b0708 opencode: add the OpenCode sidecar (step 1 — serve lifecycle + port report)
New officer-opencode sidecar (same philosophy as officer-claude): a singleton that owns
an `opencode serve` running from DATA_PATH/opencode-sidecar (created if missing) on a
random port, registers with the API as capability 'opencode', and reports its port via a
new `opencode:server` protocol event. The API stores it (sidecar-server.ts, wired in
server.tsx via getOpenCodeServerUrl). ecosystem.config.cjs runs the sidecar instead of a
bare pm2 serve. Turn-running + API rewiring come in later steps.

pastilhasandClaude Opus 4.8 49df1c0b0c chat: rename the pi chat transport + model list to chat (Stage 4b/1)
Pure rename, no behavior change. Moves the misnamed "pi" chat harness into the
chat namespace:

- api/pi/{websocket,session-manager,types,logger,list-models} → api/chat/
- merge api/pi/rest.ts into api/chat/chat.ts (/pi/models → /chat/models,
  /pi/stt → /chat/stt); drop the piRestRouter mount
- PiEvent → ChatEvent, piWebsocket → chatWebsocket, listPiModels → listChatModels
- WS route /api/pi/chat/ws → /api/chat/ws, provider tag 'pi' → 'chat'
- frontend: useChat/useAudioRecording URLs, usePiModels→useModels /
  useVisiblePiModels→useVisibleModels / useEnabledPiModels→useEnabledModels,
  'PI_MODELS' query key → 'CHAT_MODELS', attachments provider 'pi-mono' → 'chat'

The /pi-mono provider/harness settings router is renamed separately (next commit).
Note: the WS route change requires the mobile app to point at /api/chat/ws.

Flips the connection model so sidecars register themselves with the API
server via WebSocket at /api/sidecar/register, enabling dynamic discovery,
location independence, and automatic reconnection from either side.

- Add registration protocol types and PTY command/event types
- Create sidecar-registry.ts (replaces sidecar-client.ts) as passive registry
- Create sidecar connector (connect.ts) with exponential backoff reconnect
- Convert process sidecar from WS server to WS client
- Convert PTY sidecar from WS server to multiplexed WS client
- Simplify terminal bridge to thin adapter using registry
- Add PTY sidecar as PM2-managed process
- Update all consumer imports

pastilhasandClaude Opus 4.6 86c2d6333a process sidecar: independent process manager for long-running work
Introduces a separate Bun process (port 5100) that owns all spawned
processes and long-running work, so the API server can restart freely
without disrupting active sessions.

The sidecar owns:
- Anthropic proxy (port 5051) with persisted secret across restarts
- Claude Code process spawning and session tracking (--resume support)
- Pi agent spawning and RPC lifecycle (prompt/abort/thinking)
- Job queue engine (lane processing, retries, notifications)

The API server becomes a thin client that forwards commands over a
single WebSocket connection with auto-reconnect. send-claude-code.ts
goes from 550 lines of spawn logic to 73 lines of sidecar delegation.

State persisted to data/sidecar/state.json every 30s and on shutdown.
Lockfile prevents duplicate instances. See SIDECAR.md for full docs
and manual testing procedures.
