docs/offscale-plugin.md becomes plugins/offscale/PLUGIN.md. most of it is about
the plugin system generally rather than about offscale, which is exactly why it
belongs with the worked example — the reasoning is most useful beside the code
it produced, and the platform's docs should not carry the history of something
it no longer knows exists.

headscale leaves the platform. 45 files move to plugins/offscale/ and the
platform stops knowing it exists.
api/router.ts the thin auth-gated proxy, now at /api/offscale
sidecar/ 18 files, the whole headscale contract and its admin keys
db/ schema + queries, offscale_servers
web/ 26 files as panels and a layout — no screen, per the rule
removed from the platform: the hono mount, the `headscale` capability, the
App.tsx route pair, the screen and its barrel, the AppRegistry spread, the
officerdev re-exports, the dock tile, the page-title rule, and both database
barrels. tsgo is clean and nothing references it.
the imports tell the story of what the plugin↔host API actually is. the sidecar
takes @@/sidecar/protocol, @@/sidecar/connect, @@/data-path and
@@/officer-url.mjs; the queries take officerdb/db and officerdb/crypto; the
schema takes officerdb/auth/schema for the one reference a plugin may make; the
web half takes useClient, copyToClipboard, WorkspaceView and TerminalView from
the officerdev barrel. all of it resolves because a plugin lives inside the repo
— no publishing, no version negotiation.
AND IT FOUND A REAL BUG IN THE INSTALLER. createSidecarProxy learns its port
from a one-shot `<name>:server` event and subscribes when the plugin's router is
first imported — at mount. install started the sidecar BEFORE mounting, so the
announcement fired into a void: process online, routes mounted, every request
answering `503 sidecar not available` until something forced a reconnect. it
would have hit every plugin with an http sidecar. `example` never caught it
because it has no listener to announce.
install and enable now mount before starting; disable still unmounts before
stopping. neither direction leaves a mounted route in front of a sidecar that
cannot be reached.
verified live: /api/offscale/_officer/servers answers {"servers":[]}, /offscale
and /offscale/nodes serve, the old /api/headscale is 404, the offscale
capability is registered from the manifest, and officer-offscale is online.

an exclusionary rule, made structural. a plugin does not render a screen: it
contributes panels and says how they are arranged, and the shell renders
WorkspaceView around them.
web/panels.ts appRegistryMetas — at least one panel
web/layout.ts defaultLayout — how they are arranged
both required the moment web/ exists, and missing either is refused at discovery
by name and with the reason. tested:
probeplug: has a web/ directory but is missing web/layout.ts.
Every plugin route renders a Workspace: contribute panels and a layout,
not a screen.
there is deliberately no way to export a component. one that could would be free
to render a bare div, a full-page form, or its own navigation, and the platform
would become a shell hosting strangers' layouts rather than one application.
non-compliance is not so much refused as unrepresentable — there is nowhere to
put a screen.
the shell registers <prefix> and <prefix>/:section, exactly as the core screens
do, so a plugin's sections stay addressable and cmd-clickable, and panels read
useParams independently rather than passing state between themselves.
appTypes.allowed is pinned to that plugin's own keys, so a persisted layout
naming something else falls back instead of rendering another plugin's panel
inside this screen.
the example plugin is rebuilt to model it — two panels, a layout, one of them
calling its own /api/example/ping through useClient — because the reference
implementation is what everyone copies.

the last piece. installing a plugin now brings its UI with it.
a bundler cannot follow import(runtimeString), so which plugins have a frontend
cannot be answered from the database at render time — it has to be written into
source first. Plugins.gen.tsx is that file: concrete imports, generated from
what is installed, gitignored because it describes THIS machine.
App.tsx keeps its core routes and gains one map. the wildcard hands the whole
subtree to the plugin's own router, which react-router nests natively.
serving moved to build/ in production. the html import is bundled once when the
module graph loads and can never change after, which is precisely why a plugin's
frontend needed a restart; Bun.build measures ~900ms for a 25MB bundle, so an
install can just rebuild. development keeps the html import, because that is
what gives HMR and bun --watch restarts on every source change anyway.
verified end to end against a running server, no restart at any point: install
regenerated the module, rebuilt the bundle (chunk hash changed), and the
plugin's own markup was in it; /example and /example/deeper both served; disable
took it back out of both the module and the bundle and 404'd the api; enable put
it back.
three things worth recording because they were found rather than reasoned:
the shell output is named after the ENTRYPOINT — index.gen.html, not index.html
— and naming: { entry: '[name].[ext]' } does not change it because [name] is
'index.gen'. found as a 503 on the first boot after the switch.
App.tsx already destructured a `plugins`, from useServerSettings — the DEAD
plugin system that scans a directory which does not exist and always returns [].
it silently shadowed the import. the new one is `installedPlugins` and says why.
seedAppRegistry takes plugin panels as an argument rather than importing them:
officerdev is a dependency of the shell, so importing upward would invert that.

the management surface for what the last commit made possible. two panels either
side of a selection that lives in ?selected= and is read by both independently,
so neither can be telling the other something stale — rows are real Links, not
buttons holding the name in a closure.
the detail panel shows what the tree declared (api, schema, sidecar, web),
because "installed and nothing happened" is otherwise a mystery, and it names
what uninstall does NOT do: neither disable nor uninstall deletes anything the
plugin stored, and the screen says so rather than leaving someone to guess
whether a button destroys their data.
a directory whose manifest will not parse is listed with its error rather than
skipped. a malformed plugin that simply does not appear is indistinguishable
from one nobody wrote.
`outdated` is surfaced as an Update button: the version on disk moving after an
install is the normal state on a developer's machine, and it should be visible
rather than inferred.
the four mutations are written out rather than generated in a loop — useMutation
is a hook, and a hook called from inside a helper is a rules-of-hooks violation
even when the call order happens to be stable. caught before it shipped.
verified against a running server: the spa builds (19.8 MB bundle containing the
new screen), / serves 200, /api/plugins answers authenticated and 401s without a
token. full suite 719 pass, same 10 pre-existing failures. live server and
plugin_installs left untouched.

A complete read path over a table nothing could write to. task-logger.ts exported
createTaskLog, appendToLog and finalizeLog, and none of the three was called
anywhere in the tree — so `task_logs` could never gain a row, and the screen was
permanently empty for everyone.
The read half was fully wired: mounted router, capability claim, dock icon, two
routes and a page-title rule. That is why it looked alive.

capabilities/registry.ts loses '/task-logs' from the `tasks` capability's `api`
AND `routes`. The api half is not optional: assertCapabilityTotality check 2
refuses to boot on a capability claiming a prefix nothing mounts, so unmounting
the router while leaving the claim would have stopped the server starting.
db:push now creates 21 tables, down from 43 at the start of the evening.
officer_db/src/operations was one of the two lopsided directories the
schema/queries merge exposed. integrations/ is the remaining one, and it is
legitimate — it spans server and user-data.

"This folder is empty" was a lie. The five seeded directories were sitting there and the
platform's readdir raised EACCES: a member's home is 700 and owned by them, which is
correct for a shell and locks out the file browser, which runs inside the platform
process. /ls caught the error and returned an empty listing, so a refusal looked exactly
like data.
Two doors, two boundaries, and that is the point rather than a compromise. The terminal
and the agent RUN AS the member and the kernel is the boundary there. The file browser
acts on the member's behalf from inside the platform, which already applies its own
containment and is the owner's process on the owner's machine — it can read anything via
sudo regardless. Giving it access describes who is doing the work.
Done with named POSIX ACLs, because it has to hold in BOTH directions: a file the
platform writes must be editable by the member and vice versa. Mode bits cannot say that
— whichever party is neither owner nor group lands in "other", and widening "other"
opens the home to every account on the box. A shared group fails the same way, since both
parties would have to be in it and that puts every member in a group that can read every
other member's home. Two named entries plus `d:` defaults grant exactly two users and are
inherited by whatever either side creates, whatever their umask.
Verified: platform lists the home, member edits a platform-written file, platform edits a
member-written file, and a SECOND member is refused on both ls and cat.
/ls now distinguishes EACCES from a missing directory. An empty result is data and must
never be how a refusal looks.
acl joins the core packages in setup.sh — the alternative is an account that provisions
and then cannot list its own home.
Also: the file browser's own useTasks/useAgents fired /tasks, /agents and both category
endpoints on every render, which is where the last four 403s came from — they are the
context menu's Run Task and agent submenus, execution-only. Gated.
And plans is deleted: router, screen, routes, dock tile, hook, page title and its
capability. It read markdown from <repo>/plans, which does not exist. Fresh-install
Permissions is now Files alone, with Terminal to come.

/app-store, built to the platform's own conventions: a locked WorkspaceView with two panels, the
selection in `?selected=` rather than a channel, and rows that are real links so cmd-click and a pasted
URL both work.
`?selected=` and not a /app-store/:id detail route, per docs/navigation-audit.md: this is a master list
with a live preview, and linking rows to a detail route would make the detail the whole page and destroy
the side-by-side. Both panels read the URL independently — the list and the detail cannot disagree if
neither is telling the other anything.
The install form is generated from the catalogue's fields rather than written per service, which is what
lets a sidecar shipping from its own repository present a form nobody here wrote. `existing` is first in
`modes` by catalogue rule, so the default selection is "I already have one" — the answer that avoids
starting a second copy of something already running.
States are distinguished rather than flattened. Blocked is amber and titled "Needs you", not an error:
everything worked and it is waiting for a token only a person can mint. Installed-and-enabled but with
a dead process shows a warning rather than a tick that lies. And the disable/uninstall copy says plainly
that data, configuration and tables are kept either way, because that is the question anyone hesitates
over before clicking.
The dock tile is CORE, not plugin-derived: the store is how every other feature arrives, so it must
never be one of the things that disappears.
Verified through the API the screen uses — 14 items, email reporting installed/enabled with its process
online, and /app-store present in the capability routes so the tile renders. NOT verified in a browser:
no page has been opened, so the rendering itself is reasoned rather than seen.

/plans/:name, no redirect guard: the bare route is 'no plan open', which is a
real state, so the auto-select-first effect is deleted rather than turned into
a Navigate. The picker stays a native select — chrome for one document, not a
master list — but it navigates instead of setting state.
Reading the server route for this turned up a path traversal: hono
percent-decodes params, so GET /api/plans/..%2F..%2Fsecret reached
join(plansDir, '../../secret.md'). basename() the param.

task-logs was a clean move — the detail fetch already keyed off the id, so only
its source changed. activity needed one decision: its two row kinds stream
through different query params, so the url carries the id and the screen derives
task= or path= from the registry row. the sse effect now depends on that derived
string rather than a fresh object, so the 3s poll cannot re-open the stream. an
id that has left the registry says so instead of waiting for output forever.
/activity also had no page-title rule and read 'Officer'.

/tasks, /skills and /processes are one component, so one route pair each and the
rows become links. drops the auto-select-items[0] effect: the bare route is the
list with nothing open, which is a real state. editing and the just-created flag
move to ?edit=1 / ?new=1 — a link row cannot reset them on the way out, and
deriving them means navigating to another item clears them for free.

The section is /soulseek/:section — nav entries are NavLinks, the view panel reads the same
URL instead of being told, and the dashboard's tiles and recent searches are real links (a
recent search now opens that search, not the search screen's front page).
The peer went in `?user=<name>` rather than the /soulseek/users/:name the audit sketched: a
second path segment would need a nested route just to keep the nav highlight, and `?search=`
had already set the convention there. That deletes the `soulseek:user` channel and with it a
`{username, nonce}` request the Users panel consumed-once and cleared — the nonce existed so
asking for the same peer twice counted twice. A link is idempotent, so there is nothing to
consume and nothing to disambiguate.
`soulseek:refresh` stays: it is a signal, which is what channels are for.
/system-monitor/:scope, the same shape as /photos: route pair, one Navigate guard after the
hooks, scope list as react-router NavLinks, and both panels reading useParams instead of
agreeing over a `monitor:scope` channel. The Dock's isActive is a startsWith, so its
highlight survives the redirect off the bare route.
Five settings pages moved from a `*_SELECTED` global to `/settings/:page/:section`. The
sidebar entry is a react-router `<NavLink>` rather than a button holding the key in its
onClick closure, so a section is linkable, cmd-clickable and gets its active state from the
router; each page renders one `SettingsRoute` guard that canonicalises both the bare route
and a section that does not exist.
Integrations needed more than the shared factory. It builds its own sidebar, and it kept the
Enterprise/Personal tab in a second global — which is why a deep link to a Personal section
could never have worked: the link set the section, the tab stayed on Enterprise, and the
content pane said "Select a section" about a section that existed. The tab is derived from
the section key now.
Also removes the `/settings/resources` menu item (audit M8) and its two locale keys: there
has never been such a route, so it bounced to the catch-all and out to `/`.
the chat group moves from ?cwd= to a path suffix behind a g/ discriminator
(/chat/g/home/me/project), and a session url carries no group at all.
the real fix is not the spelling. a session's working directory was read back
off the query string to decide where the agent executes, so the address bar was
the authority on where code runs. a pasted or refreshed /chat/<id> arrives with
no ?cwd= at all, so a turn sent before the resolve landed ran in the default
general_chat_sessions dir instead of the project; and a hand-edited ?cwd= could
name a group the session doesn't belong to, with nothing to reconcile them.
loadClaudeSessionById already resolves a session's cwd from the id alone, so the
id is the only source of truth there. it now travels on SelectedSession.cwd,
which is what the composer reads. the url can no longer contradict it.
the vocabulary lives in apps/ChatHistory/chat-routes.ts so a link built in a
panel and one built in a screen cannot drift.
also: startAgentRun no longer returns a literal chatUrl — it returns cwd and
AgentRunnerModal builds the link, so the server holds no copy of the frontend
url shape. and the post-turn permalink strips a stale ?cwd= instead of carrying
it forward onto the new session's url.

Replicates what Gitea's own web UI offers, on top of the sidecar's /_api pass-through.
Repository browsing (tree, file view with the FileViewer's shiki renderer, README), commits,
branches, tags, releases, issues and pull requests both per-repo and cross-repo, notifications,
explore/search and organizations. Routes are /gitea/:section plus /gitea/repo/:owner/:name/:tab/:item,
all real Links with the URL as the source of truth — no selection channel.
Markdown is rendered client-side (react-markdown + remark-gfm + rehype-sanitize, rehype-raw
deliberately absent) rather than through the instance's /api/v1/markdown, because consuming that
means dangerouslySetInnerHTML and there is no DOMPurify in the tree with installs frozen. The cost
is Gitea's #123 and @mention cross-references; relative links and images are resolved instead.
The /markdown and /markup allow-list entries stay, so that door is open when a sanitiser lands.
retargetUrls rebases instance-minted URLs onto a browser-reachable origin, IN ONE DIRECTION ONLY.
This instance answers with two: /user and /repos build from its configured ROOT_URL
(http://localhost:9004), /contents from the public host. An unconditional rewrite onto the
connection URL therefore broke the second set to match the first, turning working https links into
dead loopback ones. Only a private/loopback URL is rewritten now, and only when the target is
itself public; when the connection URL is a dial address nothing is touched and the connection
screen says why avatars will not load.
Also carries the frontend half of the one-instance-many-tokens model: the connection form draws a
URL field only for the owner and sends no url key at all for anyone else, ServiceConnection.url is
string | null to match officerdb, and the rebase origin comes from the resolved instanceUrl rather
than connection.url, which is null for a member.
Not verified: no runtime pass since the last four changes, the issues and pull views have never
rendered a row (the instance has none), and the member path has never executed (one account).

adds the /jellyfin screen and its two panels (nav + view) on top of the
jellyfin sidecar, following the photos/invoiceshelf shape.
the transcode path is a progressive mp4 rather than hls, so no hls.js
dependency is added under the frozen-install rule. that stream has no
length and no byte ranges, so the player owns its own scrubber and seeks
by re-negotiating at a new startTimeTicks, tracking offset + currentTime;
a direct file keeps native controls. the hls url is still returned, so
switching later is a player change only.

The role column now has somewhere to be used from. Lists every account, changes
roles, removes members.
API — all owner-only, mounted on the existing users router:
GET /api/users list, plus the role enum so the UI never
hand-writes the names
PATCH /api/users/:id/role change a role
DELETE /api/users/:id remove an account
ownerGate uses isSuperAdmin, which now reads the role column. The global backstop
in originScopeMiddleware already confines a non-owner token to /api/auth +
/api/music, so a Member cannot reach any of this — the gate is the explicit
statement of intent and gives a clear 403 rather than leaning on a rule written
for another purpose.
The password hash never leaves the handler: listing accounts is not a reason to
hand out hashes, so the response is an explicit shape rather than the row.
The owner is refused twice over, in both handlers, before the database has to.
ck_users_owner_is_super_admin and deleteUser() would each reject it anyway, but a
raw CHECK violation surfaces as a 500 in Postgres wording, which tells the person
clicking a dropdown nothing. Same reason `isOwner` is on the wire: the UI locks
that row rather than offering an action that cannot succeed.
The menu entry is shown to the owner only. That is tidiness, not access control —
the route stays reachable and the endpoints are gated server-side, because a
hidden menu item is not a permission and anything relying on it being hidden is
already wrong. Said so in the code, next to both.
Deleting cascades — passkeys, dashboards, screens, email accounts, playlists —
and there is no undo, so it asks first and says what goes.
Not built: invitations. Creating an account still means bootstrap or a row by
hand; an invite flow needs a token, an email and an acceptance screen, which is
its own piece of work.
Untested at runtime: the routes 404 on the running server because platform TS
does not hot-reload. Everything typechecks, the token path was verified against
/api/dashboards, /api/tasks and /api/jobs returning 200, and the 404 is the
restart asymmetry rather than the wiring. Needs `pm2 restart officer`.

two workspace screens backed by one app folder: the collection list on the
left, the selected calendar's agenda or address book on the right. both read
the officer-caldav sidecar through the /api/caldav auth proxy, which holds no
DAV credentials of its own.
the selected collection is a DAV path with slashes in it, so it lives in
?collection= on the same route rather than as a path segment — still in the
URL, still bookmarkable, no selection channel. an absent or unknown value
resolves to the first collection inside the panels instead of redirecting,
because until the list has loaded there is no canonical URL to redirect to.
the agenda is a grouped list, not a month grid: the sidecar returns RRULE
unexpanded, so a grid would have to invent occurrences the server never
claimed existed. a repeating event gets a badge instead.

officer-photos owns the whole Immich contract: the instance URL and the API
key live there and nowhere else, and the platform side is an auth-gated
forwarder holding no credentials. The route surface is an allow-list keyed on
the first path segment, so admin, auth, api-keys, sessions, jobs, system-config
and libraries are unreachable by construction rather than by enumeration.
The UI mirrors Immich's own sidebar — timeline, explore, map, search, albums,
people, favorites, sharing, archive, trash — because the point of a sidecar
screen is to reproduce what the upstream already ships, then extend it. The
timeline reads Immich's columnar time-bucket format directly; selection lives
in the URL per docs/navigation-audit.md.
Two things worth knowing for anyone touching this later:
- `duration` is an integer count of milliseconds in Immich 3.0. It was an
HH:MM:SS.mmm string before, and every stale example still shows that form.
- the map container is sized with h-full/w-full, never `absolute inset-0`.
maplibre's stylesheet sets `position: relative; overflow: hidden` on the
element it is given, and an unlayered vendor rule beats Tailwind 4's layered
`.absolute` regardless of source order — so the div collapses to height 0 and
clips its own canvas away. Nothing errors: the GL context is healthy, tiles
download and pixels are drawn into a buffer nobody ever composites.
maplibre-gl is pinned to 5.x deliberately; 6.0 resolves a separate worker file
from import.meta.url, which Officer's index.html fallback answers with HTML.

TEMPORARY / EXPERIMENTAL, at the owner's request, after deedy/qr-data-transfer (QRFerry).
Two panels: one loops a file as QR frames, the other scans them through the camera and
rebuilds it. Entirely client-side — nothing about a transfer reaches the server, which is
the point of the technique.
NOT RaptorQ, and that is the one real design decision here. QRFerry carries RFC 6330
fountain-coded symbols so a receiver can rebuild from ANY sufficient set of frames. This
uses a plain indexed carousel instead, for two reasons — the second being the deciding one:
1. RFC 6330 is days of work and unpleasant to debug.
2. The sender and receiver are being reimplemented on iOS and Android. A format one person
can re-derive from protocol.ts in an afternoon is worth more here than optical
efficiency. Every frame is independent, self-describing, and parses with a string split.
The cost is honest and written down: without fountain coding you must eventually capture each
specific frame, so a miss waits for the next pass rather than being covered by surplus. Fine
for a few hundred KB on a steady camera; it degrades where RaptorQ would start to pay for
itself.
Details that matter for the phone implementations:
- base64url, no padding — ':' and '/' would collide with the field separator.
- CRC-32 of the whole file in the meta frame, checked after reassembly. The test pins the
reference value for "123456789" (cbf43926) so any stock implementation will agree.
- The meta frame repeats every 12 frames, so a receiver joining late learns the filename and
total without waiting a full cycle.
- Error correction level L: frames are short-lived and repeated forever, so QR capacity is
better spent staying sparse enough to scan than on recovery.
16 tests over the protocol, which is the spec the other implementations should match.
The receiver needs a secure origin for camera access; over the tailnet with HTTPS that holds,
and it says so plainly rather than failing silently on plain http.
Adds qrcode and jsqr. @types/qrcode was already present and orphaned — its runtime package had
been removed with the chat-channel cleanup.

deletes the last of the projects/apps cluster: the published-app store
(/api/apps + /api/app-serve), the project dev-server and its websocket
proxy (/api/dev-server + /api/dev-server-proxy), the shared html-rewrite
they were the only consumers of, and their frontend — the Preview panel,
the UserApp panel/header, useUserApps and the /settings/apps screen.
also drops getUserProjectsDir and getUserAppsDir, the ProjectType and
ProjectDefinition types, and the 'dev-server' websocket provider from
server.tsx. nothing on disk is touched.
1440 deletions, 31 insertions. tsgo clean.
the owner's work, committed as one unit rather than split: the registration
files (App.tsx, Dock, AppRegistry, hono.ts, the schema and db barrels,
ecosystem.config.cjs) all reference modules under src/servers/{api,sidecar}/wallet
and src/workspaces/officerdev/src/apps/Wallet, so committing the shared plumbing
on its own would leave a commit that does not build.
officer-wallet is a new pm2 peer holding seed material sealed under an owner
passphrase on top of VAULT_STORE_KEY, with an unlock ttl after which the root key
is wiped from memory. five backends: on-chain via esplora, and lnd, clnrest,
lndhub and nwc for lightning. bolt11 encode/decode is implemented in-tree.
no secrets in the diff — the key-shaped literals under sidecar/wallet are the

a /invoices workspace screen replicating the parts of the invoiceshelf web ui
that are actually used: dashboard, invoices, estimates, recurring invoices,
payments, expenses, customers, items and reports.
one document editor serves invoices, estimates and recurring invoices — they
share the line-item table, the discounts, the taxes and the totals, and differ
only in a header strip. the arithmetic is a port of upstream's
use-document-calculations, rounding points included, because the server
re-validates the totals it is sent. money is integer minor units throughout and
is converted to major units at the edges only.
selection and editor state live in the url (`/invoices/:section`, `?selected=`,
`?edit=`), so the nav highlight is derived rather than held, back closes an
editor instead of leaving the screen, and a half-written form survives a reload.
sending a document is behind an explicit confirmation — it emails the customer.
built against the running 2.4.2 instance rather than the 3.0 checkout in
_references; the two differ materially. typechecked, not yet exercised in a
browser.

officer-transmission is a new pm2 peer that owns the transmission rpc
connection and exposes a curated /_officer/* contract instead of proxying
raw rpc. it absorbs the three quirks callers otherwise have to know about:
the 409 x-transmission-session-id handshake, failures returned as
{"result": "..."} inside http 200, and basic auth where an empty username
must send no header at all.
/transmission is the ui, on the workspace/panel framework: a filter nav and
three sections (torrents, stats, settings). the torrent list is virtualised
with 30 available columns, multi-select, and a right-click menu; the detail
pane covers general, files as a real tree, peers and trackers. filters and
the open torrent live in the url, so a filtered view is a link.
phase 1 goal was parity with _references/transmission-web. follow-up work is
recorded in TODO.md.

sections were held in a usePanelChannel, which is exactly the opaque
click the navigation audit catalogues: the id lived in an onClick
closure, so a section could not be linked to, opened in a new tab or
reached with the back button.
/headscale/:section is now the source of truth. nav items are real
NavLinks with the active class coming from the router rather than
derived in js, and the screen redirects bare or unknown sections to a
canonical url so the highlight always matches the address bar.

officer-headscale owns the whole Headscale contract: the registered servers and
their admin api keys, the >=0.29 version floor, and every multi-call composition
the ui needs. the platform side is auth+forward only and holds no headscale
credentials, so the existing /api/vpn/enroll route and its HEADSCALE_* env vars
are untouched and unrelated.
officer manages many servers rather than one. the owner registers each with a url
and a key generated on that server and switches between them; exactly one is
active, enforced by a partial unique index rather than by convention. keys are
encrypted at rest and never leave the sidecar — the list projection cannot return
one. registration validates before it saves: an unauthenticated GET /version to
prove something headscale-shaped is there and meets the floor, then an
authenticated call to prove the key works. an edit that moves either half
re-validates.
there is deliberately no transparent /api/v1/* passthrough. headscale serialises
every uint64 as a json string and its rest shape moved repeatedly below 0.29;
proxying raw would push all of that into the browser, which is the mistake the
soulseek panels made with 37 raw upstream calls.
the /headscale workspace is nav + view over the panel system. only the servers
section is implemented — nodes, users and pre-auth keys say so plainly rather
than rendering an empty table that reads as a failed fetch.

Being retired, so it is deleted rather than fixed — it had both defects dashboards just
had (edit dropping ?selected=, an abandoned edit following you onto the next item) and
repairing them was work for something on its way out.
Gone: the two screens and the panel apps, the three routes, the dock item and its entry
in the default dock paths (client and the three server-side copies), the page-title rule,
the app-registry entries, the barrel exports, the `projects` table with its queries and
row types, and the proj-meta/proj-layout/proj-terminals/proj-host-terminals branches in
the dashboards endpoint. The chat context and terminal state-key special cases for
`proj-layout-` went with them.
Deliberately kept: `getUserProjectsDir` in data-path.ts — the apps and dev-server routers
resolve user apps under the same on-disk Projects/ directory and are unrelated to this
feature. Nothing on disk is touched.
Needs `bun db:push` to drop the table; the schema change is the only thing standing
between the code and the database. One row was in it.
tsgo clean, 56/56 tests, no references left in src. Not yet exercised at runtime — the
restart is what will prove it.

"Activity" (placeholder name — jobs/tasks were taken) = watch background tasks
scroll in parallel with chat. Built DB-free; NOT restarted — deploy + test in
the morning.
- NDJSON progress contract (activity/progress.ts): capabilities append
{job,cap,phase,status,pct,detail,ts,...} lines; tolerant parser treats any
JSON object with phase/status as structured progress, else a raw log line.
- Backend (activity/router.ts, owner-only, path-guarded):
- GET /api/activity/tasks — registry by scanning /tmp/claude-*/<cwd>/tasks/
*.output (harness run_in_background) + announced detached jobs.
- POST /api/activity/announce {name,path} — register a detached (setsid) job's
log so it's followable too (the setsid case is on the critical path, since
the warm worker now makes plain run_in_background the default for heavy jobs).
- GET /api/activity/stream?task=<id>|path=<abs> — SSE tail (poll + offset),
emitting {kind:'line'|'progress'} with NDJSON parsed.
- Frontend /activity screen + Radio nav item: task list (active dot) → live tail
with a phase/pct progress header + raw log, following the /system-monitor pattern.
- Retention: startChatEventRetention() prunes chat_session_events >7d every 6h
(wired in bootstrap) so the durable queue stays bounded.
Verified headlessly (no restart): parseTailLine classification, and the scan
finds 53 real task output files. Endpoints + UI untested until deploy.
Deferred (see handoff): cross-device sync + OpenCode parity (both touch the
now-stable chat path — won't ship un-restart-tested); task:progress into chat.

(two /proc/stat samples), memory + swap (/proc/meminfo), disks (df), load,
uptime, top-20 processes (ps). Owner-only via the account gate.
- Frontend /system-monitor screen: polls every 2s; CPU/Memory/Disks cards with
bars + per-core mini-bars, top-processes table. Nav dock "Monitor" item.
- Register /music and /system-monitor in usePageTitle RULES so the browser tab
and editable header title update on those routes (/music was missing too).

A full-page music browser reusing the app-wide player + dock. Sidebar lists
libraries (1st level of ~/Music); main is a card-grid folder browse with rich
pages: albums show a header + tracklist, and artist folders render their album
cards grouped into discography sections (Studio Albums / Live / Compilation / …)
using /music/discography. Cards have hover-play; everything feeds useMusicPlayer.
Adds a green Music dock item (/music) to the default dock.

Onboarding was dead in three layers:
- The OnboardingAdmin screen was only reachable from a route block in App.tsx
that has been commented out, so it never rendered. Its ServerTypeCard carried
accountMode ('organization' | 'single'), inherited from the codebase this was
based on and meaningless for a single-user platform.
- Two /onboarding-complete endpoints, one public and one protected, that no
frontend code called. Both read a server_config key that was never written, so
both answered false while the app's own path defaulted to true.
- HomeScreen gated on settings.onboarding.complete to show a welcome panel, and
seedHomeDir created an Onboarding folder from DATA_PATH/Onboarding and
/Onboarding_Admin — neither seed directory exists, so it only ever produced an
empty folder.
Also drops the onboarding key from UserSettings and the now-empty home-header
panel from the default home layout.

Officer is single-user: the server owner is the only account, created once by
/auth/bootstrap. Everything that existed to serve additional users was
unreachable, so it is gone rather than left looking like it does something.
Accounts: drop the invite / resend-invite / delete / list-users routes and the
Users settings screen, the inert /auth/signup handler, and the account
verification chain it fed (verify, resend-verification, VerifyScreen, the
UserInvite + VerifyAdmin + VerifyRegistration templates). /auth/verify-token
survives for password resets only, and now requires a reset-password token
rather than accepting any signed JWT.
Roles: drop the users.role column and the four-value USER_ROLES enum. The
permissions table granted every role identical methods, and every
role === 'Super Admin' check was permanently true. The JWT no longer carries a
role claim.
Sandbox: remove sidecar/sandbox.ts and its five call sites. bwrap was selected
only for non-Super-Admin users, so it never ran. It was also not a usable agent
jail as written — --share-net, the project root (with .env) bound read-only,
and runuser dropping to the server's own uid. Rebuilding it for agent
containment would be a different construction, and git history keeps this one.
getHomeDir keeps its DATA_PATH meaning; the new getOwnerHomeDir resolves the
owner's real login home, which is what terminals, chats and task runs use.

Deletes all session persistence that isn't Claude's native transcript store, per
the "only harness-native session management survives" rule.
Backend: delete api/pi/storage.ts (meta.json+messages.json file store), the
api/saved-sessions router (+ unmount), the /pi/sessions REST endpoints, and the
storage.save/loadSession calls in the chat WS handler (in-memory session-manager
stays for live turns; no disk persistence — Claude's transcript is the record).
Also drops the Postgres saved_sessions layer: schema/chat.ts, queries/saved-sessions.ts,
its types and re-exports.
Frontend: delete state/useSavedSessions, ChatList, and the ChatHistory Widget
(all pure saved-session UI); slim ChatHeader to a label; strip the auto-load-latest
+ Save wiring from ChatPanelWrapper and ChatDetailPanel; drop the old resume path
from useChat and SessionListPage; remove the /chat/saved/:id route and the
useInitialData prefetch.
Behavior removed (intended): the Save-session button, email/project panels
auto-resuming the last chat, and /chat/saved/:id. /chat itself is unchanged —
already fully on Claude transcripts. The orphaned saved_sessions Postgres table
is dropped on the next `bun db:push`.
